Tips for Parents
Your Involvement is Key to Your Child’s Success
How can you be involved? Parents have 24-7 access to their child’s grades, which are updated
regularly. You also have weekday telephone access and 24-7 access via
email to teachers. Teachers reply to all inquiries with 24-hours or less.
[ ] Password Access: Know your student’s username and password.
This provides access to the following: the course, your child’s grade
book, teacher announcements, assignment feedback and more.
[ ] Study Space: Provide a quiet place where your child has access to
the Internet, a telephone, and a printer.
[ ] Create a Schedule: Help your child decide upon and stick to a study
schedule. Plan for at least 5 to 8 hours per course per work to complete
VLACS courses.
[ ] Weekly Progress: Login in weekly to stay up to date on your child’s
course assignments and grades.
[ ] Monthly Teacher Phone Conference: Be available to speak with
your child’s teachers once a month by phone to address any issues or
opportunities regarding your child’s online learning experience.
[ ] NH State Certified Teachers: An experienced New Hampshire state
certified teacher is actively teaching your child. Your child is never
expected to master the material alone. Also know that the curriculum
was designed and is continually updated by skilled educators.
[ ] Tech support: If you need help help with course related technical
issues go to the VLACS website and click HelpDesk.
