VLACS Registration Checklist
Before a student may register with VLACS, please address all items
on this checklist with your guidance counselor or your parents/
guardian.. Consider these items carefully in making your decision
to start taking online curriculum. If you have any questions
regarding taking VLACS courses, please discuss them with your
guidance counselor.
_____ 1. The student has read the VLACS course description and
Student Progression Plan for the requested course(s) and
understands that prerequisite or co-requisite courses may
be required. Students interested in taking VLACS courses
need to make sure they have met all course prerequisites.
_____ 2. A course request does NOT guarantee placement.
Enrollment in an VLACS course is dependent upon
space available. All students will be placed on a wait list
until they are assigned to course(s) based on the VLACS
student enrollment policies, VLACS Pupil Progression Plan,
and legislative initiatives set by the State.
_____ 3. The student is responsible for his/her own computer,
software, and Internet Service Provider when taking
VLACS courses off campus. If a course is taken on campus,
communication hardware, software, and some technical
assistance may be provided by the school depending
upon its availability.
_____ 4. Courses taken with VLACS have an expected completion
date (18 weeks for a semester course and 36 weeks for a
year long course). The completion date and pace may be
changed with counselor approval.
_____ 5. Changes to a student’s registration (adding a course,
withdrawing from a course(s), or changing course pace),
will require parental approval.
