The Virtual Learning Academy Charter School (VLACS) is New Hampshire's first fully approved online school offering midde school and high school courses at no cost to New Hampshire resident students. As of May 2009, the school is approaching 5,000 course enrollments with students residing in over 220 New Hampshire communities. The VLACS philosophy is to partner with all schools in an effort to provide students with a wide variety of options to meet their educational needs.

The VLACS Partnership Program is designed to provide schools with the supports necessary to assist online learners. VLACS partners will be able to access a variety of professional development opportunities as well as having access to the VLACS's student information system for the purpose of tracking student progress in real time.

Question: How can my school become a VLACS partner school?

Answer: First, we suggest that you schedule an introductory meeting with a VLACS representative to meet with your school's leadership team to learn more about VLACS. We ask that the following school leaders be present at this meeting: central office (recommended), principal, curriculum coordinator, guidance counselor, technology coordinator, and any other school personnel you may want to invite. Second, we recommend that you send one, or more, guidance counselors to one of our partner training sessions in Exeter. Partnership training dates are typically scheduled for February, May, August, and October.

Question: Do we need to schedule a meeting at our school and attend the training session in Exeter in order to become a partner?

Answer: No, however, we have found that it is very important for a school's principal and other school leaders to attend either an on-site introductory meeting or the training session in Exeter before becoming a VLACS partner. We have had many principals attend our training session in Exeter along with their guidance counselors.

Question: What is the cost to become a VLACS partner school?

Answer: There is no cost for becoming a VLACS partner.
